One evening each year at Christmas, I sit down at the piano at my church with no idea what I am going to play until the congregation and I have heard it together. Amidst the busyness of the season, this tradition helps make a place for peace and reflective stillness. My improvised arrangements of traditional Christmas carols illuminate the familiar melodies with spontaneity and genuine emotions. These live recordings have been gathered from services over several years, imperfections and all, exactly as they were made up in the moment: sometimes peaceful, sometimes complicated, sometimes joyful.
Each album in this set has unique arrangements, sometimes presenting alternate approaches to the same songs. Together, they offer the soul a place for contemplation and quiet, a chance to draw closer to the living heart of Christmastime.
