“Gloria Patri” is a choral setting (SATB + Organ) of a familiar Christian liturgical text, which has the distinction of being in continuous documented use since at least the second century. My setting places the text over an ostinato in the organ, which allows some interesting harmonic transformations of the chant-like melody.
Glory be to God the Father,
And to the Son,
And to the Holy Spirit,
As it was in the beginning,
Is now,
And shall be forever,
World without end.
Amen.
